That Tear

Don't be ashamed, dear, of that trickle
Sliding down on the side of your face
.
You don't have to pretend it's not there.
That tear is certainly no disgrace.

Your eyes are the window of the soul,
The center of emotional light.
No apology necessary—
Tears overflow and drop out of sight.

I saw that tear before it escaped,
So full of purpose and real passion.
It made a statement I can't deny,
Or request in some other fashion.
