Thanks for Being You

Thanks for being the God-sent friend
Who has helped me to grow in heart,
Who has touched my soul down deeply,
And caused my broken wings to heal.

Thanks for moving me toward wholeness
And for dreaming my dreams with me.
I love the way you accept me,
You've helped me believe in myself.

Since your unconditional love
Started spilling over my life,
That encouragement washed away
So many self doubts and heartaches.

Now my flight can glide unhindered,
Along the course of the river.
There is deep peace in that river
And I enjoy its contentment.

So thank you for the love, the joy​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​—
For the peace and for the healing.
Thank you for how beautifully
You continue to touch my life​​​.

You had compassion on my wings,
Thanks for wanting to see me fly.
Now I can reach joy and wonder—​​​​
Soar above that river of peace.​
