Season Visitors

Autumn comes like Christmas
To visit once a year,
Enjoy what you have now
For both will disappear.

Life is like that, you know,
Or had you thought it through?
Things come in its season,
There’s nothing you can do.

Just the way things go down—
Or come up, you might say,
No use to fight it, friend,
It’s just the season’s way.

Fall has his bags all packed,
Starting to walk away,
Meets Winter in the wind
Who’s coming for a stay.

We hate to see Fall leave,
With him his pretty song—
Winter’s good for napping,
His visits are too long.
